Counselling in Marylebone & the West End

Looking for therapy in Marylebone without Harley Street prices? Help is a London charity offering affordable, face-to-face counselling in our Marylebone rooms, in the heart of the capital’s medical district. We see adults for all kinds of reasons: worry that won’t settle, grief, pressure at work, a relationship that’s struggling, or a feeling of being stuck. You don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong before you get in touch.

It’s a step worth taking. In BACP’s 2026 Public Perceptions Survey, 72% of people who had therapy said they found it helpful.

What you pay depends on what you earn, thanks to our sliding-scale fees. Every counsellor at Help is registered with BACP, UKCP or an equivalent professional body and has regular supervision from experienced clinicians. There’s no need to see your GP first. You can come to us directly.

What to expect

Starting with an assessment

Your first appointment is an initial assessment with one of our experienced assessors. You’ll talk about what’s going on for you and anything that matters in a counsellor, such as gender or background. The assessment costs £25. Our clinical team then matches you with a counsellor, usually within two weeks.

Face-to-face therapy in Marylebone

These rooms suit people who live or work in Marylebone, Mayfair, Regent’s Park or around Oxford Street. Sessions are 50 minutes long and held at a regular weekly time, so it’s easy to fit them around a working day in the West End.

Sitting in the same room as your therapist can make conversations feel more natural than they do on a screen. Having a set place to go each week also helps keep counselling separate from the rest of your life.

Your privacy

Your counsellor keeps what you say confidential. They would only share information in rare cases where there’s a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, and they’ll explain this in your first session.

How long counselling lasts

Counselling at Help is open-ended. Many people come for several months, and some stay longer. You’ll check in with your counsellor from time to time about how it’s going and when it might feel right to finish.

Fees

We set fees on a sliding scale so you can get low cost counselling in Marylebone even if you are struggling financially. At your initial assessment we’ll agree a fee based on your income. If you’re finding it hard to pay even at the lower end, tell us and we’ll look at what else is possible. Full details are on our Fees page.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get to Help’s Marylebone & West End counselling location?

Bond Street station (Elizabeth, Central and Jubilee lines) is about 6 minutes’ walk away. Oxford Circus (Central, Victoria and Bakerloo lines) is about 8 minutes on foot. Plenty of buses run along Oxford Street nearby. When you arrive, ring the intercom or bell for your room.

Is there step-free access in the building?

Not to every room. The building is historic, and the upper floors are reached mainly by stairs. If stairs are difficult for you, tell us when you book and we’ll suggest a more accessible location nearby or online sessions. Bond Street has step-free access to its lines, but Oxford Circus does not. TfL’s step-free journey planner can help you choose a route.

Is there parking nearby?

There are metered parking bays on the surrounding streets and public car parks close by, including Q-Park Cavendish Square. Central London parking is expensive, so the Tube or bus is usually easier.

Do I need to come to Marylebone for every session, or can some be online?

Help offers counselling in person or online, once agreed it will stay the same, you can’t alternate inbetween from week to week.

How quickly can I start counselling?

You can book an initial assessment yourself online, with no GP referral needed. If you’d prefer us to get in touch with you, use our Refer Yourself form instead. Assessments are usually available on most weekdays, and most people begin counselling within two weeks of their assessment.

What happens if there’s no therapist near Marylebone free right now?

Counsellor availability varies, so there may not be a space in Marylebone straight away. You could wait for one to open up, take a space at a nearby location such as Fitzrovia or Little Venice, or begin online. Your assessor will explain the choices so you can pick what suits you.

Testimonial - Client1
Client testimonial

“This amazing organisation has given me the belief that I can or do have the skills/tools to cope with whatever life throws at one. The weekly sessions have resulted in re-gaining the lost inner strength, a heightened level of self-awareness, clarity and an articulation in all areas of my life. HELP has offered an intrinsically safe sanctuary, free of judgement and the sessions have resulted in giving a confidence and belief, that had somehow got mislaid. I feel immensely lucky to have been given the compassionate support I have received from my remarkable counsellor."
