Help is a London charity offering affordable counselling for adults in Little Venice, at other locations across London and online. If you’re looking for a therapist near Little Venice, we can help with anxiety, low mood, stress, bereavement, relationship difficulties, life changes or past experiences that still weigh on you.
You don’t need a clear label for what’s going on. Many people come to us because things simply feel harder than they should.
Fees work on a sliding scale, so what you pay reflects what you can afford. All our counsellors are registered with BACP, UKCP or an equivalent professional body and work under regular, expert supervision. You don’t need a GP referral to see a counsellor in Little Venice or at any of our other locations. You can contact us directly.
What to expect
Your first session
You start with an initial assessment, a chance to talk through what’s brought you here and what you’d like from counselling. Our clinical team then matches you with a counsellor in Little Venice based on your needs and preferences. The initial assessment costs £25, and most clients start counselling within two weeks of it.
Face-to-face therapy in Little Venice
If you live or work around Little Venice, Maida Vale, Paddington, Bayswater or St John’s Wood, this is likely to be the most convenient location for in-person sessions. Each session lasts 50 minutes and usually takes place at the same time each week.
Meeting your therapist in person gives you a private space away from home, work and screens, which many people find makes it easier to open up. The journey there and back can also become a useful moment to prepare and reflect.
Confidentiality
What you discuss stays between you and your counsellor. The only exceptions are rare situations where someone could be at serious risk of harm. Your counsellor will explain these limits clearly at the start.
How many sessions
There’s no fixed number. Most clients come for several months and some choose to work longer term. You and your counsellor will review how things are going along the way.
Fees
We want affordable counselling in Little Venice to be within reach whatever your income. Fees are set on a sliding scale according to what you earn, and we agree yours with you at your initial assessment. If even our lower fees are difficult for you, talk to us. We can discuss other options. See our Fees page for more.
Cost is the most common reason people hold back. In BACP’s 2026 Public Perceptions Survey, 35% of people who considered therapy but didn’t go said it was because of the price. Our fees are designed to remove that barrier.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get to Help’s Little Venice & Paddington counselling location?
The nearest station is Warwick Avenue (Bakerloo line), about 3 minutes on foot. Paddington is around 9 minutes away and has more lines, including the Elizabeth line. Buses 6, 18, 46 and 187 stop nearby.
Is there step-free access in the building?
The building is historic and set over several floors, so access varies from room to room. If you have mobility needs, please let us know when you book, and we’ll make sure you’re offered a suitable room, another location or online sessions. Warwick Avenue station is not step-free. Paddington has step-free access to some lines, including the Elizabeth line, so it’s worth planning your journey with TfL’s step-free journey planner.
Is there parking nearby?
On-site parking is very limited. There are pay-and-display meters on Warwick Avenue and nearby streets. Westminster residents’ bays are free in the evenings and at weekends. Public transport is usually the easiest option.
Do I need to come in for every face-to-face therapy session, or can some be online?
Help also offers online counselling but you can’t alternate between them week to week. Once your session day, time and location is agreed, it will stay the same each week.
How soon can I start face-to-face therapy?
Help offers affordable face-to-face therapy in Little Venice and other locations across London, and you don’t need a GP referral. All you need to do is book an initial assessment online, or fill in our Refer Yourself form if you’d like us to contact you. Assessments are usually available most weekdays, and most clients start within two weeks.
What if there’s no therapist available near Little Venice?
Availability at each location changes, so a counsellor isn’t always free here straight away. If that happens, you can wait for a space at Little Venice, see a counsellor at one of our other locations nearby, such as Marylebone, Fitzrovia or North Kensington, or start with online sessions. We’ll talk you through the options at your initial assessment, so you can decide what works best for you.
