Help’s Fulham therapy rooms are in a quiet studio building by the Thames, just a couple of minutes from Putney Bridge station. We’re a charity providing affordable face-to-face counselling in Fulham and across London for adults who are finding life difficult, whether that’s because of anxiety, depression, a loss, stress, a relationship or a change they didn’t expect. If you’re not sure counselling is for you, the first conversation can help you decide.
Your fee is set on a sliding scale according to your income. All our counsellors are registered with BACP, UKCP or an equivalent professional body, and each one has regular supervision from an experienced practitioner. You don’t need a GP referral. Just get in touch with us.
What to expect
Your initial assessment
Before counselling begins, you’ll have an online initial assessment costing £25. It’s a relaxed conversation about what’s on your mind, what you’d like help with and any preferences you have. From there, our clinical team finds a counsellor who suits you. Most people start their sessions within two weeks.
Face-to-face counselling in Fulham
This is a handy location if you’re in Fulham, Parsons Green, Hurlingham or Putney or nearby on the District line. Every session runs for 50 minutes, at the same day and time each week.
Meeting in person lets your therapist pick up on more than just your words, and lets you leave the session behind when you walk out.
What stays private
Your sessions are confidential. Your counsellor would only pass information on in rare situations where someone is at serious risk of harm. They’ll talk you through this when you first meet.
How long you can come for
You can keep coming for as long as counselling is helping. Most clients attend for several months, and some for longer. You’ll review your progress with your counsellor along the way.
Fees
We offer affordable counselling in Fulham and across London through a sliding scale, so people on lower incomes pay less. We’ll agree your fee with you at the initial assessment. If you’re worried about cost, please mention it. We can talk about other options. See our Fees page for more information.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get to Help’s Fulham & Putney Bridge counselling location?
Putney Bridge station (District line) is only about 2 minutes’ walk away. Several bus routes also cross Putney Bridge and run along Fulham High Street.
Is there step-free access in the building?
Yes. Our rooms are on the second floor, and there’s a lift. The building also has accessible parking spaces on site. Step-free access varies between stations, so check your route with TfL’s step-free journey planner before you travel.
Is there parking nearby?
There are some off-street and residential parking options around the studios, but restrictions apply, so check the signs before you leave your car. Accessible parking spaces are available on site.
Do I need to come to the Fulham counselling location for every session, or can some be online?
Your weekly time and room are reserved for you, so we ask you to attend in person each week. You are free to choose between online or in-person counselling, but we keep to one format rather than switching between them.
How quickly can I start face-to-face therapy?
Assessments are available on most weekdays, and most people start counselling within two weeks of theirs. You don’t need to see your GP. Simply book an initial assessment online, or fill in our Refer Yourself form and we’ll be in touch.
Long waits put many people off: 22% of those who considered therapy but didn’t go cited waiting lists, according to BACP’s 2026 Public Perceptions Survey. We aim to keep that wait short.
What if there’s no therapist available near Fulham?
If there isn’t a therapist free in Fulham when you’re ready, you can wait for one, try a nearby location such as East Putney or Hammersmith, or start online. We’ll help you weigh up these options at your assessment.
