Join our Board – Trustee Role (Clinical)

Help Counselling is seeking a Trustee with Clinical experience to help us bridge the gap between our affordable mental health services and the people who need them most.

For over 60 years, we’ve been supporting those facing anxiety, stress, and depression. Now, we need your clinical expertise to help shape our strategic growth and ensure we continue delivering high-quality, accessible talking therapies.

About the role

As a Trustee with clinical expertise, you will join a motivated and supportive Board of Trustees to share collective responsibility for the charity’s governance, strategic direction, and long-term success. Following our shift to remote working and a room rental model post-pandemic, ensuring strong clinical oversight and safeguarding our values across both online and face-to-face provisions is more important than ever.

You will play a key role in supporting our 3-to-5-year strategic plans, helping us monitor performance, manage clinical risk, and maintain our high standards of care. Working closely with the Board and the CEO, you will provide leadership on specific projects, contribute your professional expertise to training placement initiatives, and act as a high-level ambassador for the charity across our core London boroughs.

What we are looking for

  • A qualified/accredited psychotherapist (BACP/UKCP/BPC) with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience across psychodynamic, integrative, or person-centred modalities.
  • Experience actively delivering psychotherapy (face-to-face and online) to adults, ideally within an organisational setting like the NHS or a training placement organisation.
  • Based in London or surrounding areas, with the ability to attend quarterly meetings in central London and travel within our target boroughs (Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster, and Hammersmith & Fulham).
  • Strong communication skills, a proactive approach to governance, and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • A deep commitment to improving mental health awareness, increasing accessibility, reducing stigma, and aligning with our core values of integrity and confidentiality.
